Red Clay School Board Election

May 2, 2013

Dear Union Brothers and Sisters:

As education professionals, you know the value of having school board members with whom we can work and whose judgment we trust. As you are aware, we have been very active in school board elections for the past several years, and this year is no exception with three vacant seats.

District residents will have the opportunity on May 14th to elect new school board members who, once elected, will help continue change in our district’s leadership for the better.  The Executive Boards and Rep Councils of the Red Clay Education Association, Red Clay Paraprofessional Association, Red Clay Food Service Workers’ Association and Red Clay Secretaries Association have voted to recommend to our members Adriana Bohm for election and Ken Woods for re-election to the Red Clay School Board.  Additionally, we support the election of Mike Piccio who is running unopposed.

Over the past several years, our school district has emerged from past financial difficulties, and has become more transparent as the school board has, through no coincidence, become much more engaged in their role as elected school board members. We believe fully that Adriana Bohm will be a wonderful addition to the Red Clay School Board.

Adriana is an unabashed advocate of local community public schools. She has a PhD in Sociology and teaches at Delaware County Community College. She is the mother of two young children who attend Highlands Elementary, an active parent within the district, advocacy chair of the Highlands PTA and a member of the Superintendent-Parent Council. In addition, Adrianna understands and is knowledgeable about the excellent programs and staff that we have in Red Clay. We enthusiastically recommend Adriana Bohm for the Red Clay School Board.

We are also pleased to recommend Ken Woods for re-election. Ken has developed a broad understanding of what is important to all stakeholders in Red Clay and will continue to be a strong voice for the board.

We believe each of these candidates will work to maintain public trust and are prepared for this challenge. Without reservation, the Executive Board and Rep Council of the Red Clay Education Association, Red Clay Paraprofessional Association, Red Clay Food Service Workers’ Association and Red Clay Secretaries Association encourage you to support Adriana Bohm and Ken Woods with your vote on Tuesday, May 14th.     For those of you who work in Red Clay, please check with your Association Rep for ways that you can  support Adriana and Ken prior to Election Day. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Philip Kaplan
President, RCEA
